Central to the mission of Holy Trinity Parish, the communities of St Peter’s East Bentleigh, St Paul’s Bentleigh and St Catherine’s Moorabbin is an unequivocal commitment to fostering the dignity, self-esteem and integrity of children and young people and providing them with a safe, supportive and enriching environment to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.
Our Parish is currently establishing a committee that will be committed in working to meet compliance with the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne Safeguarding Children and Young People Framework. This work will ensure that child safety is embedded within the culture of our parish, and is reflected in the way in which our parish conducts its ministry. We work in conjunction with the Catholic Professional Standards Unit (CPSU).

OUR CHILD COMMITMENT STATEMENT
At Holy Trinity Parish, we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our parish. We adhere to the Victorian Government’s Child Safe Standards and the Victorian Reportable Conduct Scheme. We are updating all our current information and policies to be in line with the CPSL Self-Assessment of Compliance which reflects the requirements of the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards. The CPSL National Catholic Safeguarding Standards are aligned with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
Our framework also includes references to the CCYP Victorian Child Safe Standards (CSS), which are mandatory for organisations in accordance with the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005. The Victorian Government is currently reviewing the Victorian Standards including considering whether any adjustments should be made to better align with the National Principles.
Holy Trinity Parish Policies response to and implementation of policies of the Child Safeguarding Standards will be updated in the coming months to reflect these changes from the Victorian to the National Standards. We aim to have our CPSL Self-Assessment completed by November 2020.
