I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh,
which I will give for the life of the world.
John 6:51
The Sacrament of First Eucharist is a big step in the life of a believer.
Also known as “First Holy Communion”, it is the moment when a person receives for the first time, the Eucharist, the body of Christ in the form of a host of bread consecrated by the priest. Along with Baptism and Confirmation, First Eucharist is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation into the faith community of the Catholic Church.
Through the Eucharist, God comes to dwell in us. Jesus wants us to receive it as food as it brings us into the fullness of our life in Christ.
The Eucharist is 'the source and summit of the Christian life.' (Lumen Gentium 11)'. The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it.
For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good
of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.' (PO 5) (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1234).
In keeping with the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Melbourne,
